bp and EnBW submit Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping request for Mona wind farm

bp and EnBW have submitted their Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping request for the Mona wind farm to the Planning Inspectorate and Natural Resources Wales. This is the next step in delivering this project which is expected to provide up to 1.5GW of clean energy – enough to power approximately 1.7 million homes. The report explains how we will go about assessing and understanding any potential impacts the project may have on the environment.

Why it matters?

Scoping ensures:

  • Key environmental and social issues to be addressed are identified at an early stage

  • The Environmental Statement is focused on the key issues

  • Consultation with relevant consultees occurs at an early stage

What’s next?

The report is sent to the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) and Natural Resources Wales (NRW). These agencies will now consult technical consultees for their views on what is in the report before issuing their scoping opinion. We will also be looking to start our first round of community consultation for the Mona project in June 2022.
